Viral Marketing — Contagious Content
The amount of Marketing Courses that are offered on different social networks and websites is overwhelming, but on the third week of quarantine I decided to check one of these free online course listings that everyone was sharing to take advantage of time during quarantine.
I came across this course that is short, clear and concise and I would like to share it as it has refreshed my memory with basic but simple things that every content creator must keep in mind.
It is a University of Pennsylvania’s online course called “Viral Marketing and How to Craft Contagious Content” depending on your commitment you can finish it in 1 month or less if you go for a non stop learning style (really you could finish it in a day if you wanted to).
In order not to spoil its valuable content I’ll just share that Viral Content is the result of the perfect balance between the following concepts: Simple, Unexpected, Concrete, Credible and Emotional. And here are some tips that, simple as they seem, we often forget when creating content.
• Less is more. If you tell people 10 things, they’ll remember none. If you tell them 1, they’ll remember it.
• Simple messages open a curiosity gap in people minds, it leaves them wanting to know more.
• Show rather than tell.
• Business language is not attractive or concrete at all.
• We should use words that evoke images. Things you can turn into pictures.
• Concrete messages lead to memorable messages.
So, to conclude this unpaid advertising! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a refresh on basic marketing knowledge!
Until next time!
